The Harken MK2 Vang Twisted Fiddle ("Twiddle") Block adds to the popular Zircon block range that has become a favorite among ILCA sailors for control systems. The new Harken "twiddle" is the ideal middle block in an ILCA vang system. Its slim shape slides easily along the purchase system and remains upright while classic blocks tip, twist, or tangle. The 45 degree twist helps keep the system aligned and reduces friction under high load. This is a small detail, but an important one in a class where every detail matters. Built around Harken's Zircon technology, this small block spins smooth as ever with ceramic ball bearings mounted inside caged races. The cages keep these bearings apart so they don't bunch up, touch, and stop each other. The result is a very free-running block with less energy lost to friction. Zircon bearings are more than 700% stronger in compression than stainless bearings of the same size.
