Our 48L Optimist sailboat flotation airbags with the long fill tube are built to last and keep your Optimist afloat when things get nautical.

These airbags bags are made from polyurethane coated nylon and are about half the weight - and significantly stronger - than bags made of PVC or PVC coated nylon. These bags come with a twist lock tube valve attached to a long fill tube to allow for fast inflating and deflating. 48L bags may be slightly heavier than 43L bags, but after a capsize there is a lot less water in the boat that needs to be bailed out.

Opti Airbag Pro Tip: To extend the life of your airbags be sure to keep an eye on the how much air pressure is in the bag. Strong direct sunlight and high temperatures can cause the bags to overinflate and eventually leak. Your airbags should always be slightly squishy, if they're rock hard then there's too much pressure inside and some needs to be let out. Only let enough out to soften the bag slightly - we still need the bag to properly float the boat.
