The Harken Optimist Ball Bearing Hook In Block gives sailors a super smooth sprit adjustment. This block actually conforms to the curvature of the mast so there is less wear and no chance of the block twisting on the mast. Harken suggests that sailors use this block with high strength line (Dyneema, Spectra, or Vectran) rather than a stainless wire. In addition they recommend the Harken 29mm Ti-lite block or the 29 mm Carbo Single/fixed block for turning the block into the 2 to 1 power system. The slightly bigger blocks provide very smooth adjustment of the sprit tension.
